Autism is a pervasive developmental disability that affects the functioning of the brain. Autism is characterized by and not limited to a delay in one or more of the following areas: language skills, social interaction skills, communication skills, play skills, and may be in conjunction with behaviors such as repetitive behaviors/difficulty in change of routines/inappropriate responses to an environment.
Currently, alarming rates of 1 in 150 children are diagnosed with Autism each year and the causes of this disability are still unknown.
